Republican Cult-????

This is written in response to a post on 760 “Progressive Talk” radio’s “discussion” board. I place quotes around the word discussion because it is not that. If one wishes to add alternative thinking in a thoughtful, non aggressive way, they are urged to leave. When one responds in sarcasm the same occurrs.

So I figure I was damned if I did and damned if I didn’t. That set me free to get down to business.

This post you are about to read was in response to a post comparing what the member learned of cults. He gave a list of things to look for when deciding a group was a cult. These insights were shared by professionals engaged in de-programming ex-cult members. He then compared these tell tale signs to the Republican Party.

I learned a long time ago, turning the mirror on an accuser shuts them up. Gets them pissed, but shuts them up. If I am suddenly killed you can rest assured it was from these writings, either to Muslims or some flaming liberal wanting to rid the world of “conservative scum” like me. Conservative scum or infidel, hmmm……..?????? I win?

My responses are in bold. The points posted "proving" Republicans are a cult is in normal font.

**************************************************************

The Mirror Turns

The group is focused on a living leader to whom members seem to display excessively zealous, unquestioning commitment. (Bill Clinton, FDR, Jack Kennedy? Those aren’t Republicans, I’m confused)

The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members. (All I’ve heard since the 2004 election is that the Democrats are going to “Take back the country” How? Get more people to agree with you, right?! How are you going to do that without a preoccupation with new membership?)

The group is preoccupied with making money. (Try to run anything without it. Democrats are just as pre occupied, they just have mostly supporters that don’t have the money. The Party has sold it’s soul to those that want a free ride in life. You know the poor people of Louisiana were so dependent on the Federal Government and forgot completely about their Mayor and Governor. Do you notice a difference here between those that still believe in self determination? They are the ones going after the local incompetence and local Democratic boondoggles that is shown by 40 years later, still no levees)

Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished. ( The Democratic Party is in chaos, unable to focus on questions that face this country instead goes into character assassination of anyone that disagrees. Look what the arguments concerning illegal immigration and what that discussion descends to. I dissented here on this board and I am a ‘troll’.)

Mind-numbing techniques (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, and debilitating work routines) are used to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s). (Meditation is mind numbing? Your ignorance is abundant. Denunciation sessions: Are these ‘sessions’ like getting on the web like this discussion board where if you don’t think our President is a racist, lying maggot, and a “loser” your not denunciating enough. Debilitating work routines – such as running a small business is debilitating? Like self determination and not depending on Government handouts debilitating?)The leadership dictates sometimes in great detail how members should think, act, and feel (for example: members must get permission from leaders to date, change jobs, get married; leaders may prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, how to discipline children, and so forth). (You are ignorant if you relate this to the Republican party. I can’t blame you though, you each have the full weight of propaganda perpetrated by people that use ‘feel good’ laws to gain a following.)

Mind/Speech Control: (Shoot, if someone says we need to turn off the magnet that attracts illegal immigrants, what happens? There accused of racism and hate speech. Is that attempting to control the mind or speech?)

The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s), and members (for example: the leader is considered the Messiah or an avatar; the group and/or the leader has a special mission to save humanity). (Wow, Jack Kennedy, FDR all over again. Isn’t this redundant to what was said earlier? Are we talking about the elitist New York democrat, or the elitist Hollywood liberal, or the elitist Professors of liberal thought that punish students that disagree?)

The group has a polarized us- versus-them mentality, which causes conflict with the wider society. (Right on, those are my beloved democrats. “Take back the country”, Republicans don’t work, the President is a loser and stupid and can’t talk correctly. The President is a liar and those that voted for him are stupid and we’re pissed because of it.)

These of course are not polarizing statements? he writes sarcastically.

The group's leader is not accountable to any authorities (as are, for example, military commanders and ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream denominations. )(Has anyone heard of impeachment? Has a case been beyond leaps of logic and character assassination?

This has truly been fun holding up this mirror, but alas, I must go my work is done here...
